Paraglider over Tinto South

First fly walk of the year

Significantly later than usual I went out on Wednesday for a first flight of the year.  Forecast was for low cloud everywhere (and I gather it was ) but in the SE Borders it was sunny with light WSW breeze.  I walked up the W face Woden Law but breeze was generally from SW so walked through the col and carried on along the Roman Road (where lots of the archaeology from Iron Age and Roman activity is clearly visible )  to Blackhall Hill.    This forms a fantastic shaped bowl which Ive wanted to fly for a while, but breeze was lighter and slightly W to be ideal.

I launched from the top and soared along the Gaisty Law then across the valley to Hindhope Hill and landed  well up the slope.  Quick pack and stroll up to the summit then a nice glide across to Woden Law and down beside the road.   A short and pleasant fly walk for a rather belated start to the year.
